Dr. Adolfo Fontenla Cerezuela

Cardiologist specializing in electrophysiology in Madrid who has more than a decade of professional experience. He is an expert in arrhythmias, ablation of cardiac arrhythmias, study of palpitations and syncope, pacemaker implant, defibrillator implantation, Holter implant, renal denervation due to poorly controlled hypertension or percutaneous closure of the left atrial aria, among others.

With a degree in Medicine and Surgery and also a Doctor of Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid, he specialized in Cardiology at the 12 de Octubre University Hospital in Madrid and from the Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum in Leiden, in the Netherlands. Throughout his professional career he has focused his activity on electrophysiology, with special attention to the ablation of complex arrhythmias, percutaneous closure of the ear, renal denervation, cable extraction, stimulation of baroreceptors and modulation of cardiac contractility. He is an expert in the implantation of state-of-the-art devices such as the wireless pacemaker and the completely subcutaneous defibrillator.

After almost 20 years developing his professional work at the 12 de Octubre University Hospital in Madrid, he currently works exclusively in private medicine, in the Arrhythmia Units of the Quirónsalud Madrid, Rúber Juan Bravo and Viamed Santa Elena Hospitals. In turn, he combines his work as a cardiologist with teaching, being a teacher of several master’s courses. He is also a clinical researcher in several clinical trials funded by the Carlos III Health Institute.
