Patient Pathway

Stage 1

Your GP or consultant will identify that there is a treatment needed.

Stage 2

You or your GP will contact Healthcare Abroad to start the process of getting your surgery in an EU country

Stage 3

The Healthcare Abroad team will liaise with your GP to arrange your referral letter, and any necessary diagnostic tests and provide the results to the hospital.

Stage 4

The Healthcare Abroad team will contact our network of hospitals and match the hospital and surgeon to meet your requirements

Stage 5

If required we help you organise your finance through Irish credit unions

Stage 6

We will liaise with the hospital to get your surgery dates arranged and send your files to them for review.

Stage 7

Once your healthcare plan is agreed we confirm your travel dates and your healthcare schedule with the hospital team

Stage 8

You are now ready to travel. Once you arrive at the hospital you will have an out-patient appointment with your consultant the day before you receive your treatment.

Stage 9

On discharge, we will finalise all your paperwork for you and submit to the HSE on your behalf ensuring you receive your refund in a timely manner.

Stage 10

Your GP will receive a report from the hospital regarding the treatment you received so he/she can update your local medical records.

Stage 11

You will have a follow up consultation by Video with your surgeon 8 weeks post-surgery
