“This is a lifeline for me and has renewed my enthusiasm for living!” Patrick Kinsella said a few days after having his hip operation through Healthcare Abroad. Patrick, an inner-city soccer coach from Dublin, had been suffering from hip pain for a few years that two years ago got worse. “I have been involved in athletics since I was nine years old.
Now, at 64 years old, I hoped to continue to keep coaching through my Academy, but last year, I got horrible back pain as well. It was getting too painful to even get out of bed in the morning, let alone coach. I was miserable and couldn’t even play with my grandchildren. I had an X-ray that didn’t show anything, so I was prescribed mild painkillers that did nothing to help. When the pain became unbearable, I went for another scan, which showed my hip was basically bone on bone and was told the wait would be two to three years for a replacement.”
Thinking there was no way I would last that long in the pain I was in, I spoke to my sister-in-law, who had a successful experience with an operation through Healthcare Abroad. It sounded too good to be true, but now that I have had my hip operation, I will tell anyone it is the real McCoy!
My doctor at home signed the referral right away, and planning, including the financial end of things, took one week. The care from the staff and the HCB Denia surgeon and staff is excellent. After surgery and ten physio sessions, I feel like a totally different person and can get on with my life pain-free. When you are in that much pain, the toll on you is one thing, but the toll on your family life suffers as well. I am, of course, looking forward to returning to coaching but also other things that are important, like being able to pick up my grandchildren and spending quality time with my wife.” 🏨
