Obesity and Metabolic Surgery

We perform different laparoscopy surgery techniques to treat obesity, in order to be able to individualise the technique according to the characteristics of the patient.

Likewise, we have developed variants of minimally invasive techniques, reducing insult to the abdominal wall, which improve patient recovery, such as the single port approach or mini-laparoscopy.

We perform all kind of procedures to treat serious or morbid obesity. From the simplest, such as the gastric band, to the most complex, including all types of bypass, as well as revision surgery in cases where other techniques have failed.

Diabetes type 2: the procedure involves creating a short-circuit between the stomach and intestine, preventing food from passing through the proximal duodenum and jejunum, which is the origin of the metabolic signal that causes insulin resistance. Furthermore, through this surgery, we can eliminate high cholesterol levels, reduce obesity and lower high blood pressure in patients. Also, 99.2% of patients no longer need to inject with insulin.

Hyperlipidaemia: there are cases of serious hyperlipidaemia with high cardiovascular risk. Our experts use surgical bypass techniques, which enable levels of triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood to drastically decrease.

Oncological Laparoscopic Surgery

Managing to perform oncology surgery through minimally invasive techniques in 100% of cases has been one of the challenges that has become a reality, including introducing innovations to decrease insult through the single port.

Currently, the contributions of fluorescence to assess anastomosis has meant that the leak rate has significantly decreased below international quality standards, which has even led to us reducing the number of colostomies and ileostomies.

We are also currently using fluorescence to improve oncological results, by providing this technology to lymphadenectomy, which is necessary in this kind of procedure. Colon, rectal, stomach and oesophageal cancer treatments

Abdominal Wall Laparoscopic Surgery

Without doubt, international development in laparoscopic abdominal wall surgery started in Spain, where surgical techniques have been developed that are currently being used at many hospitals internationally.

For this reason, surgeons from across the world have come to learn these techniques at our centres. Inguinal hernia repairs are performed through laparoscopy in 100% of cases, which aids the recovery of our patients tremendously.

Conversely, we have performed new abdominal wall reconstructive techniques through minimally invasive procedures, which reduces infections and seroma, and improves patient recuperation by reducing pain. Treatments: inguinal hernia laparoscopic surgery (TEP and TAPP); minimally invasive eventration surgery; complex abdominal wall surgery.

Benign Abdominal Condition Laparoscopic Surgery
