Robbie from Balbriggan’s Meniscus Surgery in Valencia
“I was training back in April when I hurt my knee. I do a lot of steps every day in work, so I kept going and went to a physio to try manage it. But one night in July it exploded in work and put me out completely. I got an MRI in mid July and was told it was a meniscus tear. My appointment with a consultant would have been more than a month away and I even have private insurance, so that really set me back.”
A Friend’s Recommendation
“I was talking to a friend who had spinal fusion surgery in Spain a couple of months ago with Healthcare Abroad and he was singing their praises. He told me to give them a ring. I rang on the Friday, they told me I needed an operation, and that they could get me out a week later. Paul helped me with the Credit Union, everyone was so helpful, Paul, Debbie, Sorcha, such super people. Two and a half weeks after the initial call, I was in Valencia at Vithas Valencia Turia Hospital.“
Treatment and Recovery in Spain
“The people I met were the highlight of my joruney. The team you guys have in Valencia: John, Grainne, Amy, Kelsey, Cayla, Sergio, Joe, everyone was lovely, second to none. The hospital was beautiful, it’s only open since April and you could tell, it was spotless. All of the staff were very kind, they couldn’t do enough for me. My room was outrageously good, I couldn’t believe it when I walked in. It was private, almost better than a hotel, absolutely huge.”
“It looks like I’ll be off the crutches next week which is a big boost. I wasn’t expecting to be ready so quick, it’s a win win on all accounts. I’m looking forward to getting back walking, then cycling in two weeks. When I arrived in Valencia I couldn’t walk without hobbling, now I’ll be able to walk in Nerja on my holidays.”
“I can’t sit still, so getting back to myself this quick has been amazing. I much prefer being on site at work than in administration, and this surgery has me back on track. I couldn’t recommend Healthcare Abroad enough.”
