“At 23, I tore my ACL and saw countless doctors, but no one ever recommended an MRI. “I kept trying painkillers and exercises, but it was like being stuck in a loop.” Working as a plasterer and plumber, my knee was always an issue. Some days, I could barely stand. Irish doctors told me surgery wasn’t an option, suggesting I live with it or go on disability. “I wanted it fixed.”
Finally, his doctor in Ireland recommended an MRI—18 years after my injury. “Without his help, I wouldn’t have considered healthcare abroad.” After getting the MRI, a friend suggested I reach out to Healthcare Abroad. “I didn’t know much about it, but within weeks of contacting them, I was in and out of surgery.”
The experience was amazing. “The speed and professionalism were night and day compared to Ireland. I felt like I was finally being taken seriously.” Paul and Sorcha coordinated everything, while Chris made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. “They went above and beyond.”
“The drivers were also fantastic—they made me feel at home.” David, a key Care & Support member, was especially helpful: “David was great at navigating the hospital and is a real people person.”
“The hospital was top-notch—new, clean, and modern. You could tell they invested in it. The staff were fantastic—welcoming and attentive. I felt I was in good hands from start to finish.”

Read Their Story"Living in Howth, I couldn’t even walk down the hill because of my injury. Every step felt like my knee would give way, so I had to rely on lifts and shoulders to lean on. It was humiliating. I used to love going to Dublin football games, but the pain made walking and standing so awkward - it was embarrassing.
