Gerry Feery – Offaly – Hip Replacement

Back To Work 3 Months Later

Gerry from Tullamore came over for hip replacement surgery in Spain this summer. We had a chat with him while he was over here, and then caught up with him three months later to see how he was progressing

The Tipping Point

“I’d been in pain for over six years, missed festivals and the joy was taken out of a lot of activities. By August I realised I couldn’t keep going like that.”

“I literally just typed ‘healthcare abroad’ into Google and I saw all of the good reviews. I have to say I was sceptical. I gave them a call and they ran me through everything. I asked “what’s the catch?” But there is no catch, you just have to pay upfront for surgery, and flights and hotel aren’t reimbursed. That all sounded good to me, so we started the process.”

Supported at Every Step

“Everything with Healthcare Abroad is clockwork. They walk you through the paperwork, I was met by one of the team in Dublin Airport and then picked up when I landed in Alicante. You’re never waiting more than five or ten minutes for anything. It’s brilliant.”

“One week after surgery and the awful pain I’d had for years was gone, thanks to Dr. Sendra and his team. What I have now is just the normal muscle pain after surgery.”

“At home you might get two days in hospital and that’s it. Over here, you get ten physio sessions. People think physio is all twisting and torture, but it’s not. It’s gentle at the start, and they actually listen to you. They found a tendon that was totally seized from six years of limping and they’ve been working on that too.”

“On the Tuesday after surgery I walked around the town… 2,700 steps. Don’t tell the physios! I was stiff the next morning but I was delighted with myself.”

3 Months Later

“Dr Sendra had advised me that it would take between two to three weeks before I would see a rapid improvement in my recovery. He was true to his word. By week 3 my mobility was improving rapidly on a daily basis. Continuing at home with the online physio program that the hospital gave me played a major part in this.”

A Sense of Gratitude

“I have recently returned to full-time work and I cannot express how great it is to be pain free.”

“I am so grateful to Healthcare Abroad for everything that they have done to get me back to where I am today. I’ll never again take for granted the simplest of things like putting on my own socks and tying my shoelaces in comfort.”

“Healthcare Abroad professionalism from when I first contacted them to the present day has been exceptional. They are one of the best companies that I have ever dealt with in any aspect of my life. Should you need surgery, do yourself a favour, contact Healthcare Abroad and at least hear what they have to say.”

“If you want any independent opinion or just a chat about my experience with them, then feel free to message me.”

“Again many thanks to Healthcare Abroad for giving me the chance to get back to living a normal life.”
